Five of the 15 speakers on the Silicon Valley Speakers roster have done marketing work themselves or teach a session built for marketers, from a 13-year Google veteran who led AI-powered ad strategy for YouTube's top advertisers to a founder who grew a 47,000-subscriber newsletter from a Scottish island. This guide covers what marketing audiences want from a keynote in 2027, what a marketing keynote speaker costs, how I vet one and which of those five I'd put in front of your team.

What marketing audiences want from a keynote in 2027
A marketing room is a hard crowd for a speaker. Everyone in the seats writes persuasive copy for a living, so they notice a recycled story or a slide of generic AI statistics within minutes. The marketing requests we've worked on this year range from a university marketing and communications team planning a development day to a 2027 annual conference that wants a marketing and growth keynote on its second afternoon. Both briefs asked for practical ideas the team could use the following week, from someone who has done the work.
Four themes come up in almost every marketing brief I read for 2027.
AI content at volume. A marketing team can now produce far more assets with the same headcount, and the hard question is how to keep the output worth reading. A useful speaker shows the workflow on screen, including the point where a human reviews it.
Creativity. When every competitor has the same AI tools, the original idea is what's left to compete on. Creative directors and brand teams want a speaker who makes the room more inventive, ideally with exercises the team can repeat after the event.
Owned audience. Newsletters and communities are channels a brand owns outright, and marketing teams want to hear from someone who has built one. The best speakers on this theme can show their own subscriber and member numbers.
Growth and friction. Product and growth marketers care about the steps between a first click and a paying customer. A founder who scaled a consumer product can talk about removing those steps with stories a demand team will repeat.
Match the speaker to the marketing room
"Marketing" covers very different audiences. A leadership offsite for 20 marketing directors needs a different speaker from a 2,000-person marketing conference. Here's how I match the rooms we see most often to speakers on our roster.
Brand and creative teams
Best fit: Abigail Posner or Drue Kataoka.
Talk: using AI to make ideas bigger, with visual AI for on-brand content.
Format: a keynote, or Drue's 2 to 5 hour visual AI workshop.
Brief them on: the campaign or brand problem the team is stuck on.
Content and demand generation
Best fit: Ethan Monkhouse.
Talk: Volume Without Slop, on producing far more with AI while staying worth reading.
Format: a keynote or a hands-on session with live demonstrations.
Brief him on: your current content volume and who reviews it.
Community and social
Best fit: Milly Tamati.
Talk: building an audience and a community from nothing.
Format: a keynote plus The Community Playbook, a 2 to 4 hour workshop. She can also MC the day.
Brief her on: the audience you own today and the one you want.
Growth and product marketing
Best fit: Chris Barton.
Talk: Eliminate Effort to Unlock Explosive Growth, on removing friction.
Format: a 45 to 60 minute keynote or a fireside chat.
Brief him on: every step a customer takes before they buy.
For a multi-day marketing conference I often pair two of these, for example a creativity keynote to open the event and a practical AI content session in the afternoon slot. If the audience is your customers rather than your own marketing team, our customer conference speakers page covers that brief.
What a marketing keynote speaker costs in 2027
Marketing keynote fees follow the same bands as any corporate keynote. Here are the 2027 bands from our keynote speaker hiring guide, with the kind of marketing speaker you'll usually find in each.
| Tier | 2027 fee | Typical marketing speaker |
|---|---|---|
| Emerging or niche expert | $5,000 to $15,000 | A practitioner with one sharp specialty, such as a single channel or tool. |
| Established professional | $15,000 to $40,000 | A former agency or brand executive, or a founder with a proven audience, giving a talk customized to your team. |
| Recognized thought leader | $40,000 to $75,000 | A bestselling marketing author, or the founder of a consumer product most of the room has used. |
| Celebrity or marquee | $75,000 to $250,000+ | A household-name CEO or a marketer with mainstream media reach. |
Fees are for a 45 to 60 minute in-person keynote and exclude travel and lodging. Most corporate bookings fall between $15,000 and $40,000 all-in.
None of the five speakers below publishes a fixed fee on their profile, so we quote each one against your date and format. Where a speaker sits in a band depends on demand and on how much custom work you're asking for.
Two extras come up more often at marketing events than anywhere else. The first is clip rights. A marketing team will want to cut the keynote into social posts, and many speakers price recording and reuse separately, so agree on it in the contract. The second is a workshop after the keynote. Drue Kataoka's visual AI workshops run 2 to 5 hours and Milly Tamati's Community Playbook runs 2 to 4, which turns an hour of ideas into something the team has built by the end of the day.
How I vet a marketing keynote speaker
Marketers judge a speaker on whether they've done the job, so I check that before anything else. Here's the checklist I run before I put a name on a marketing shortlist.
Marketing keynote speaker checklist
- Marketing work on the record. Verifiable results from marketing work, such as a newsletter's subscriber count or a product's user numbers.
- Written for marketers. The session is built for your audience, rather than a general keynote with a marketing slide added at the end.
- Something to show. A live demo or an exercise the room does together.
- Your numbers in the talk. A briefing call plus a look at your funnel or last year's campaign results, so the examples come from your own team.
- Clip rights agreed. Written permission to post clips of the keynote on the channels you plan to use.
The last item is the one I see missed most. A recording clause that covers an internal replay doesn't automatically cover posting clips on your brand's public channels, so name the channels in the contract.
Marketing keynote speakers on our roster for 2027
Each speaker below has done marketing work or teaches a session built for marketers, and I've led each profile with the fact I'd use to make the case to your CMO.
Abigail Posner
Former Director, U.S. Creative Works at Google · Keynote and fireside chat
Abigail spent 13 years at Google, where her team at Creative Works developed data-driven, AI-powered advertising strategies for YouTube's top global advertisers. Before Google she was an executive vice president and strategy team director at Publicis New York and DDB New York, so she knows the agency side of the table too. Her keynote Ingenuity Unleashed: Using AI to Make Human Imagination More Powerful Than Ever is about using AI to think bigger rather than only faster, which is the question most creative teams are asking. We work with Abigail.
Ethan Monkhouse
Founder, Monkhouse & Partners · Head of AI, Knightox
Ethan runs his own companies on the AI systems he builds, and his keynote Volume Without Slop covers how marketing teams use AI to produce far more and still be worth reading. His client and project work includes Audi, Lexus, Dell and Checkout.com. A second talk, The Data Shadow, covers what AI already knows about your customers. He also runs hands-on sessions with live demonstrations, for teams that want to see the workflow running. Ethan is based in London and speaks across Europe. We work with Ethan.
Milly Tamati
Founder, Generalist World · Also MCs events
Milly built Generalist World into a 150,000+ person movement with 47,000+ newsletter subscribers and 700+ paid community members, without VC funding, from a Scottish island with 191 residents. Notion, Canva, Zapier, Reddit and Lovable have all run brand partnerships with her. Her Generalist Archetype Quiz added 27,000 subscribers in eight months, and she has posted on LinkedIn for more than 1,000 consecutive workdays. For a marketing team building its own community, her workshop The Community Playbook: Building Engagement That Lasts covers engagement mechanics and content strategy for community growth. We work with Milly.
Drue Kataoka
Visual AI keynote speaker and entrepreneur · Keynote and workshops
Drue's keynote The Vision Muscle™: How to Lead in the Age of AI covers how teams use visual AI to create on-brand content for social media and to build multilingual avatars that reach customers in their own language. She has keynoted at the World Economic Forum in Davos and the Milken Institute Global Conference. Her hands-on workshops run 2 to 5 hours, and in Develop Your Ideas with Visual AI people come in with an idea and leave with a prototype. We work with Drue.
Chris Barton
Founder and creator of Shazam · Keynote and fireside chat
Chris founded Shazam, which passed 2 billion downloads and was acquired by Apple for about $400 million. More than 300 million people use it every month. He was also Google's first head of mobile relationships. His keynote Eliminate Effort to Unlock Explosive Growth is about removing the friction between a person wanting something and getting it, and he tells it through Shazam's own story: the company nearly collapsed several times over six years before the App Store launched in 2008. Growth and product marketers get the most from it. We work with Chris.

Frequently asked questions about marketing keynote speakers
What does a marketing keynote speaker do?
A marketing keynote speaker gives the opening or headline talk at a marketing conference or a marketing team's offsite. The good ones have done marketing work themselves, either on the agency and brand side or by building their own audience, and they give the room ideas it can use the following week. Five of the 15 speakers on the Silicon Valley Speakers roster fit that description.
How much does a marketing keynote speaker cost?
Marketing keynote fees for 2027 run about $5,000 to $15,000 for emerging experts, $15,000 to $40,000 for established professionals, $40,000 to $75,000 for recognized thought leaders and $75,000 to $250,000+ for marquee names, before travel and lodging. Most corporate bookings fall between $15,000 and $40,000 all-in. Budget separately for clip rights if you plan to post parts of the talk on social media.
Who are the best marketing keynote speakers for 2027?
It depends on the room. For brand and creative teams I'd look at Abigail Posner, who spent 13 years at Google leading AI-powered ad strategy for YouTube's top advertisers, or Drue Kataoka for visual AI. For content teams producing more with AI, Ethan Monkhouse's Volume Without Slop is built for marketers. Milly Tamati fits a community or owned-audience brief, and Chris Barton of Shazam fits growth and product marketing.
What topics should a marketing keynote cover in 2027?
The four themes I see most in 2027 marketing briefs are AI content at volume, creativity when every competitor has the same tools, building an audience the brand owns, and removing friction from the path to purchase. Pick the one your team is weakest at and brief the speaker on your own numbers for it.
Should a marketing keynote include a workshop?
For a marketing team rather than a big conference audience, often yes. A keynote gives the room ideas, and a workshop afterward gives the team something built by the end of the day. On our roster, Drue Kataoka's visual AI workshops run 2 to 5 hours and Milly Tamati's Community Playbook runs 2 to 4 hours. Ethan Monkhouse also runs hands-on sessions with live demonstrations.
Can we record a marketing keynote and post clips on social media?
Usually, if the contract says so. Many speakers price recording and reuse separately from the keynote fee, and a clause that allows an internal replay doesn't automatically cover public social posts. Name the channels and the time period in the contract before the event.
